Why can’t I be happy with a theme?

So now that a few days have passed and I’ve visited this site a few times, guess what… I don’t like using this theme (Minyx Pro 2) for this site. *sigh* Oh, there’s nothing wrong with the theme. It’s a fabulous theme. I love it!! But it’s not right for me, for my personal site.

The only reason I dumped my original theme was because it didn’t wrap around photos. That was the ONLY reason. I liked it very much other than that. (Well, red isn’t really my color, but it didn’t bother me enough to change it.)

So I’m going to reactivate the original theme (LOL!) and will mess with the CSS to fix the photo problem when I have time. Which is not going to be during the daytime today because it’s crazy-nice out (59°F in northern Wisconsin on March 16th? Hello???) and I am DETERMINED to get the hell out of the house and do something — anything! — outside. Preferably birding. ##

————— UPDATED —————

We’re back on the “old” theme now… just ‘splainin for those who missed the blog schizophrenia of the past week and don’t see anything different! :)

Mouse… Yum!

Our new little kitten, Ginger. (Her full name is Ginger Belle) She is about 7 mos. old.

Our first package of real frozen mice arrived from Hare Today a couple of days ago. I gave one of the mostly-thawed mice to Ginger. She played with it for several hours… long enough that I started to worry that it was no longer fresh enough for her to eat, and should be thrown out.

Then I went to refill my water and……. no mouse. Anywhere! Hmmmm, I thought, maybe she ate it? Which would have been great for a kibble-head like her. She’d turned her nose up at all raw food thus far, even rabbit. I wasn’t holding my breath for mouse. I’d read online that they don’t always realize it’s food. Often they think it’s just a really nifty toy. (Not that quality entertainment isn’t worth its weight in gold, of course!)

Mad, Passionate Chili Love <3

Once upon a time, when we were a traditional nuclear family, my Dad was the Chief Maker of the Chili. He developed a recipe (not to be confused with unabashed creativity, a la artistic flair, because he is a total engineer-head) over the years which was, simply, exquisite. We loved it because it was our chili, it had that particular flavor that only our chili had.

And it was the only setting outside of majorly doctored-up Bush’s Baked Beans wherein I actually liked beans.

I am not ashamed to admit, I am not a big fan of the beans. I’m OK with that.

Now that our family life resembles traditional 21st-century living arrangements, the Chili Making Duties have fallen to my Mom.

Happy Birthday to Me! My gift to the world is …

Yippee! It is my birthday today! Happy Birthday to ME!!! :)

I have decided, in honor of my birthday, to report all spam I receive today, to Spam Cop.

I am sick of spam. I’ve been getting more and more spam lately, and it’s annoying. So, I have decided, that is my gift to the world today. In honor of this glorious fantabulous day.

LOL! Yes, yes, there is a smidge of sarcasm there ;) but I’m being totally serious about the spam. Don’t send me spam today, or I am reporting your lousy ass!!!

(Incidentally, you can join my crusade by signing up at Spamcop here.)

Found it! – Breathe

I’ve been looking for this song for what seems like eons … Always loved the sound of it? — and then I found it (thank you Google) and here the lyrics are totally me. It just speaks to me perfectly. :) Discoveries like that are the neatest.

Breathe – by Michelle Branch

I’ve been driving for an hour
Just talking to the rain
You say I’ve been driving you crazy
and its keeping you away
So just give me one good reason
Tell me why I should stay
‘Cause I dont wanna waste another moment
in saying things we never meant to say

And I Take it just a little bit
I, hold my breath and count to ten
I, I’ve been waiting for a chance to let you in

If I just breathe
Let it fill the space between
I’ll know everything is alright
Breathe
Every little piece of me
You’ll see
Everything is alright
If I just breathe

Well it’s all so overrated
In not saying how you feel
So you end up watching chances fade
And wondering what’s real

And I Give you just a little time
I, Wonder if you realize
I’ve been waiting till I see it in your eyes

If I just breathe
Let it fill the space between
I’ll know everything is alright
Breathe,
Every little piece of me
You’ll see
Everything is alright
If I just breathe
Breathe

So I whisper in the dark,
Hoping you hear me
Do you hear me?

If I just breathe
Let it fill the space between
I’ll know everything is alright
Breathe,
Every little piece of me
You’ll see
Everything is alright
Everything is alright if i just breathe… breathe

I’ve been driving for an hour
Just talking to the rain
