It’s Friday of 4th of July weekend, and to quote a neighbor, I can feel the peninsula slowly sinking as the great mass of tourists arrives. :) I smile because it’s a cute thought, not because I am happy all these people are here.

I feel sort of held hostage on our own property. If I value my safety or sanity, I won’t stray out there. God knows I have no desire to rub elbows with people, people, people, PEOPLE! EVERYWHERE!! People, people…

And yet I feel like I must, for some reason, lest I miss something, and don’t I need something?? Something…

The front page of ABC News loaded and it was a flash. It just rose up, a surge inside of me. I AM PISSED. M’kay? Pissed.

These fat cats (oil companies) have millions of dollars to lobby congress, have millions of dollars to buy off our (the peoples’) elected officials, millions of dollars for insane executive salaries, and they show profits in the billions every year. When is the last time you heard of an oil company taking a loss? Seriously? And people, THAT’S AFTER THEY STACKED THE BOOKS in the most advantageous way possible, to make it look like they didn’t make as much money as they did — because that’s what every business does, so they don’t have to pay a penny more taxes than they absolutely have to.

But apparently they don’t have enough money to install a damn shut-off valve. You know, like you have in your basement? Under your sinks? BEHIND YOUR TOILET? Yes, turns out our toilets are better executed than the damn oil wells.

I’ve spent a good part of today rebuilding this site… or building it out, whatever. I have tried on about 20 different themes and then remembered I had this one laying around unused. It’s a payware/1-site theme and I love it, so this one is totally IT. :)

Aside from widgeting and fidgeting and what-not :) my greatest feat today has been getting some links put up. Sadly most peoples’ eyes will glaze over when they see the looooong list of links in the sidebar, but real estate is cheap [for now] and my goal is to help people find the info they’re looking for. Those links are the foundation for most of my content, so they need to be there [if only for our lovely friends at Google]. :)

What a great feeling to finally have KWeb at a point where I can focus on writing! And content! I have so much stuff jumbling around in my head and I can’t wait to dump it out on the netweb! :)

Once upon a time, when we were a traditional nuclear family, my Dad was the Chief Maker of the Chili. He developed a recipe (not to be confused with unabashed creativity, a la artistic flair, because he is a total engineer-head) over the years which was, simply, exquisite. We loved it because it was our chili, it had that particular flavor that only our chili had.

And it was the only setting outside of majorly doctored-up Bush’s Baked Beans wherein I actually liked beans.

I am not ashamed to admit, I am not a big fan of the beans. I’m OK with that.

Now that our family life resembles traditional 21st-century living arrangements, the Chili Making Duties have fallen to my Mom.

What keeps me awake [Part 1]

It’s 4:36 AM. Joyce Meyer is on in a mere 24 minutes. My instinct is to stay awake until 5 so I can see Joyce. I always have a much better day when I can start it with Joyce… even if going to sleep “for the night” doesn’t happen ’til 5:30 AM.

But I worry. Last Friday I stayed up, and she talked about sex. Sex! Which is great and all, but I have absolutely no use for that topic. It’s like showing an elephant a TV show on how to drive a car. Total message/audience Fail.
